A man without a heart.

Morgan Bartholomew Langston, Earl of Whetherford, has finally decided to accept his fate. Tired of dangerous assignments and putting his neck on the line, he has returned to his ancestral home to accept the title of his birthright and produce the required heir. But when he arrives, he finds his home has been invaded and a female has taken off with his mother’s jewels. Morgan decides the traitorous jade thief will not get away, so he sets into motion a plan to bring her back. When he abducts the wrong woman, his reaction to her brings him dangerously close to breaking his vow of forbidden emotions.

A woman without a love.

Katherine Elizabeth Radbourn is a strong, independent woman, and at the age of twenty-three, she is still unwed. In a desperate attempt to find her brother, she is abducted. Once she meets her captor, her fear and indignation dissipates to an overwhelming awareness. Even though he tells her she is the wrong one, Kat realizes she has finally met a man who not only is she attracted to but one who has awakened her woman’s body.

Does he really care for her, or does he secretly yearn for the woman she is supposed to be?

The Right One One and Only Series Book 1 edition by Samanthya Wyatt Romance eBooks

The story is heartwarming, the characters sound but there is a problem with the overall construction of the book.
To explain.. The timeline is confusing and convoluted, by my best estimation the story must take place over a period of at least two years because in 1825 it would take almost that long to go to India and back to England regardless of how you went either overland or via the ocean (there was no Suez Canal) and yet the character Giles is there and back with Katherine's brother Steven before you know it. There are many other places in the story where the timeline gets rushed or confused, where characters change without pause or warning and you have to read back to see which one was the primary in the paragraph.
Another unfortunate flaw which I find is an issue with many younger contemporary writers is the placement of descriptives in a sentence "her emerald loving eyes" instead of her "loving emerald eyes", we can only suppose that her love of emeralds is extraordinary! And while I am a huge supporter of a solid vocabulary I feel it is imperative that the writer actually knows the definition and proper use those words. For instance, "the gentile lady sat on the edge of the bed" gentile...really? I had no idea the rest of the cast were Jewish. We must assume that she meant "genteel" (Kat's aunt) and this is only one example of misused words, there are dozens to choose from.
I do not wish to say that the book does not have merit, it does, but it needs to re-edited for timeline construction and word definitions.
With some minor work this could be a very enjoyable read.

The Right One One and Only Series Book 1 edition by Samanthya Wyatt Romance eBooks Reviews

The plot was wonderful, the encounter was very cleaver. The romance was intense and reminded me of Mr. Rochester in Jane Eyre. The sex was engaging and yummy. The part I like the most is the plotting to rescue both Stephen and Katherine.
No cohesive story around the sexual attraction. Interesting characters not developed and fascinating stories left hanging. Would not read another book by this author
Morgan, Lord Whetherford, and Karherine eventually fall in love. Standing in the way of true love is one seductive villain, a case of mistaken identity, abductions, and daring rescues. In short, this book has all the passion and angst that I look for in a historical romance novel.
This is one rich romance that I felt clear to my bones. Both Kat and Morgan lit fires in my soul with their stories. I couldn't put this book down.
Wyatt drew complex characters, sketched in their passion, and painted love in that came roaring in amidst their trials and fears.

I declare this a must read for the hard-core romantic.
Complete in this volume. Great story that holds your attention. The first several chapters are confusing until you figure out who is the person the chapter is about.
I really enjoyed reading The Right One, the first book in the One and Only series. The book was well written and I really liked how Ms. Wyatt developed the characters. I also like the brotherhood with the characters and how they took care of each other. I am looking forward to reading more books from this series. I highly recommend this book to be added to your historical romance collection.
I am glad I purchased it when it was on sale. This is a romance story that the h is begging for trouble and finds it. There are some funny parts and some tension thrown in.

The lovemaking was passionate and mildly descriptive. We do get HEA, no cliffhanger, misunderstandings that are quickly corrected. But the story at times was somewhat slow and little action. But, if it goes on sale again, get it. I don't think it is worth $2.99 that it is priced now. (ljb)
