For Murray Rothbard, libertarianism wasn't an intellectual parlor game, nor was it a personal affectation for him, it was a banner that was meant to be carried into battle. Ever the happy warrior, he sought to bring the radical libertarian perspective to bear on the events of the day, and it was a task he delighted in. From 1967 thru 1968, Rothbard churned out 58 columns for the Freedom Newspapers, addressing the campus revolt; the massive antiwar demonstrations; the Six-Day War between Israel and the Arab powers; the Newark riots; the Vietnam War; the persecution of H. Rap Brown, the assassination of Martin Luther King, the abdication of Lyndon Baines Johnson, the rise of Richard Nixon - in those two crucial years there was, as they say, never a dull moment.

I've been looking forward to this great collection of Rothbard columns for a while. When I heard several months back that a collection of his Sixties-era writings was being put together by Justin Raimondo I knew it would be fascinating. This was well worth the wait. Raimondo provides a useful introduction which places these columns for the Freedom Newspapers in historical context. Rothbard addresses all kinds of issues, from garbage strikes to political assassinations, all with his signature rigor and wit. How great it is to have this book out now, when the public is having a phony "libertarian" tag-team of ex-governors (who bizarrely define libertarianism as "centrism") shoved down their throat by the MSM. Any libertarianism they genuinely believe in (not much) is so qualified and watered down that it evaporates in their Establishment-friendly rhetoric. It's a shame that in the one election season when the Libertarians are getting considerable media attention (by a media that wishes to thwart Trump) they have this milquetoast ticket as their public face. Too bad they don't have a candidate giving answers as clear and fearless as the opinions in Rothbard's columns. Oh, well...

Never a Dull Moment A Libertarian Look at the Sixties (Audible Audio Edition) Murray N Rothbard Jim Vann Ludwig von Mises Institute Books Reviews

I needed this book, so I bought it.
Murray Rothbard's essays are magnificent, priceless, and eternal. It was an aesthetic experience to observe him cut through the complexities of each event with keen insights into the timeless liberty messages in each. I encourage Raimondo to publish more of these.
This was an interesting book. It looked at a lot of the problems of the sixties, such as the Vietnam War, the assassination of Martin Luther King, American fascism, the draft, and much more. This book is basically a collection of articles written by Murray Rothbard. All in all this is a good book. pl
Top drawer
Rothbard was and is Mr. libertarian and does not disappoint.
As usual, and correctly so, libertarians rarely agree with each other, and rightly so. If they followed in lock step, as do others, they would not be libertarians.
